In 2017, While I was working on my dissertation, I was also a writer for the local weekly newspaper, The Corvallis Advocate. There I stretched my writing beyond history to cover news in science, the environment, activism, entertainment, and politics. But I still wrote about history too. I had the opportunity to interview several locals including an outdoor educator, a philosopher, and an animal communicator as well as comedians who came to town.
