In 2007, I completed the Rock Island County Master Naturalist training. As part of my volunteer hours I wrote to brief articles for the monthly newsletter, Field Notes. For these two articles, I spent several weeks observing the life cycle of Trilliums in a nearby woods and American Lotuses in the Mississippi River.
